Wonder,See how these Ugandan women were searched at a stadium

Where do you draw the line between searching people and molesting them?
Pictures depicting a normal stop and search procedure at a Ugandan stadium entrance, have since gone viral and are attracting the attention of people.
According to the pictures, a security personnel can be seen touching (abi molesting) some women under the pretext of conducting an intimate search on them.

Some of the women can be seen smiling (maybe they are already used to it) as the search is going on, while some look like they are not finding the whole act funny.
See more pictures below:
Quick question, is that a male or a female officer searching them?

IT IS MY THINKING, My Idea and My Making--Lai Mohammed

Change begins with me is my idea — Lai Mohammed

LAGOS — MINISTER of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, yesterday, refuted claims by Chief Afe Babalola and Akin Fadeyi, that the Federal Government’s national re-orientation campaign, ‘Change Begin with Me’ was a copyright version of drama skits ‘Not In My Country’ initiative.
Mohammed’s reaction came barely seven days after a senior lawyer at the Afe Babalola Chambers, Adebayo Adenipekun, wrote to the President, alleging that the initiative launched to bring attitudinal change in the country, originated from him and was taken from his project: ‘Not In My Country.’
The minister made the explanation after unveiling the national re-orientation campaign to stakeholders in the private sector in Lagos.
He noted that the idea behind the national re-orientation was designed and completed two months before he met Fadeyi.

He said: “I was nominated in October and the moment I was nominated, I called my team and I told them that the most important thing was to change the attitude of Nigerians. I am happy that the agencies that worked on the idea are here today.
“We started working on the initiative immediately and on 14 October, 2015 when I was confirmed as a minister, I had completed work on the initiative. I made available to the media, incontrovertible evidence that by October 14th, 2015, I had completed work on the initiative.
“On 31 October, 2015, I had completed the radio jingles and television commercials. After we had completed work on the programme, Mr. Akin Fadeyi came to me on December 30th, 2015.
So, how can one accuse me of stealing an idea which was completed by October last year? The person, who claimed that I stole his idea came to me in December. Mr. Akin Fadeyi, Afe Babalola and I will meet in court.”
Earlier, Director General of the National Orientation Agency, NOA, Garba Abare, said the initiative was aimed at making citizens major players in the redevelopment of the country.

Afe Babalola writes Buhari over Lai Mohammed on Change Begins with Me campaign

– A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Chief Afe Babalola has written President Muhammadu Buhari
– Babalola is a personal friend and lawyer to former president Olusegun Obasanjo
– Babalola has accused the minister of information, culture and tourism, Lai Mohammed of plagiarism
Nigeria’s minister of information, culture and tourism, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has been accused of plagiarising the work of one Mr Akin Fadeyi.
Alhaji Lai Mohammed has been accused of plagiarism
This was made known to President Buhari by Chief Afe Babalola (SAN) in a letter dated Thursday September 29, and seen by Thisday.
Babalola told the president that Fadeyi is the creator of the anti-corruption media campaign project ‘Not in My Country,’ and not the minister.
Chief Afe Babalola (SAN) is a well respected legal luminary in Nigeria
Chief Afe Babalola (SAN) is a well respected legal luminary in Nigeria
Part of the letter read: “First, our client is a private business man genuinely concerned with advancing our Nigerian society by innovative thinking and development projects, not a politician with any vested interests.
“Second, the ‘Not in My Country’ anti-corruption campaign project is a product of our client’s lifelong vision to do something towards ridding our society of the canker-worm of decadence.
“On this point alone, our client has the same goals as the present administration in tackling corruption effectively at the grassroots.
“Third, our client will not sacrifice this noblest of goals on the altar of claiming his personal individual rights, especially not in a way capable of being bastardized or confused with propaganda, among other distractions.
“That is not to say our client will not defend his work and hard-earned intellectual property rights in a court of competent jurisdiction at the appropriate time.
“Indeed, our client awaits Alhaji Lai Mohammed to make good his threats to sue him, in preparation for which he has instructed our law firm to commence the preparation of processes in answer to any summons filed against him.
“Without a doubt, when our client responds to any processes filed, his actions and motives will be clear and unmistakable.”

According to the well respected lawyer, Fadeyi conceived and initiated the ‘Not in My Country’ anti-corruption campaign project in 2007 at the University of Lagos.
He further stated that it was later fully developed into one-minute drama skit model that Fadeyi presented in a proposal to Mohammed on December 30, 2015, to enlist the minister’s cooperation to facilitate the broadcast of the already prepared skits on the Nigerian Television Authority.
“However, the minister indicated that he was yet ruminating on a ‘Change Begins with Me’ idea of his own which he wanted our client to reflect in the ‘Not in my Country’ project.
“Thus, it was agreed at that meeting that our client should go back to location and re-shoot the drama skits to reflect the minister’s ‘Change Begins with Me’ as the pay-off line in the ‘Not in My Country’ videos.
“The minister gave Fadeyi his email contact and asked that the reworked videos be sent to him via email, which Fadeyi did. Having received Fadeyi’s drama materials, the minister held on to them without communicating with Fadeyi any further.
“All attempts to reach and meet with him again were evidently rebuffed by the minister,” Babalola added.
President Buhari on Thursday, September 8, officially launched the national re-orientation campaign tagged  “Change begins with me” at the Presidential Banquet hall in Abuja.

Williams Adeleye who is the spokesperson of the minister has since reacted to Fadeyi’s allegations saying: “We started working on ‘Change Begins with Me’ before the honourable minister was nominated and we’ve been working with the agency that produced the campaign.
“So let him go to wherever he likes then we’ll meet and go and sort it out there.”

Nigeria economy Growing Backward as Kenya beats Nigeria in stock-trading for the first time,

– Kenya beats Nigeria for the first tome in stock-trading
– This was revealed by a data compiled by Bloomberg
– The Nigerian economy has been on an all-time low for a while
Investors put more money into Kenyan stocks than Nigeria’s for the first time, a data compiled by Bloomberg reveals.
The value of shares traded on Nigeria’s exchange fell to $139 million, near the lowest since Bloomberg began compiling such data in 2009.
See the chart below:
Kenya, an economy eighth the size of Nigeria is set to grow almost 6 percent this year, the value rose 4.2 percent from August to $152 million.
The Nigerian economy has been on an all time low since the resurgence of militant attacks on oil facilities in the oil-rich region of Niger Delta, which has affected the country’s earnings.
President Muhammadu Buhari is presiding over a battered economy

Figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Wednesday, August 31, showed that Nigeria had officially gone into recession.
The NBS figures showed that in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the second quarter of 2016, Nigeria’s economy contracted by 2.06 percent. The country’s economy shrank by 0.36 percent to hit its lowest point in 25 years.
The second quarter report makes Nigeria’s economy the worst in three decades.
These are not the best of times for the Muhammadu Buhari led government as S&P Global Ratings recently downgraded Nigeria further into junk territory.
On Friday, September 30, the World Economic Forum ranked Nigeria 127th out of 138 countries in the 2016-2017 Global Competitive Index.
Meanwhile, an analyst at a leading information and advisory services firm for emerging markets – Frontier Strategy Group, Martina Bozadzhieva has blamed President Buhari for mishandling the economy.

BREAKING: Full cure for HIV-AIDS discovered

– British scientist have found a cure to HIV-AIDS
– A social worker in London has been reportedly cured of the disease
– The researchers say its not over yet, as more experiments needs to be done
Emerging reports suggest that British scientists could be one step closer towards finding a permanent cure for HIV-AIDS.
Huffington Post reports that a 44-year-old social worker in London appears to be completely free of the virus after undergoing an experimental therapy technique.
The man was first given a vaccine which helped his immune system detect infected cells, and then took Vorinostat, a drug which is normally used in experimental cancer treatment trials.
The Vorinostat then activates dormant infected cells that would normally slip through the net allowing the body’s immune system to detect and kill every last infected cell.

In simple terms what this combination of treatments does is remove the camouflage that allows HIV to remain hidden and then shine a spotlight on it allowing the immune system to clearly identify infected cells and kill them.
The researchers have said that there’s an extremely long way to go before they start throwing parties. For starters this is just one man in a trial that involves 50 people.
All 50 will need to show similar responses to the treatment, and then even if they do they’ll need to be continually tested for the next five years to make sure the virus has been completely eradicated.
That said, this is promising news. For starters this method is essentially a complex and aggressive form of drug therapy, far less invasive and complex as a technique like gene editing.
HIV is a virus which attacks the immune system of the human body, making it harder for us to fight off even the mildest illnesses such as colds or coughs.
There is currently no cure for HIV, however modern treatments allow those infected with it to go on to live a long and healthy life. AIDS is the final stage of the HIV infection, it occurs when the body can no longer fight life-threatening infections.
Those who have been diagnosed with HIV early on will not go on to develop AIDS.

A video showing two women trying to rape a guy has been trending on social media– It appears the women are South African judging by their language– One can clearly see and hear the guy struggling ad trying to break free from their grip
A lot of things are happening in the world that are simply unexplainable. Men are beginning to ‘grow’ breasts, children are getting molested almost daily and now, ladies are beginning to rape men. Could it be that the end times are approaching like the bible explained?
A recent video posted on Twitter shows twoladies in the act of trying to rape a man. The Ladies who were speaking a language that sounded like Zulu (Zulu is spoken in South Africa) pinned the man down with one trying to remove his trousers and the other holding his arms and planting kisses on his face. You can see the man trying to set himself free but the ladies would have none of it. And some people say it is only women that can get raped. Watch the video below.

Man impregnates, kills 14-year-old daughter in Ekiti

Ado-Ekiti- Residents of Emure in Emure Local Government Area of Ekiti State, are yet to recover from the shock of why a 50-year-old man simply identified as Williams would allegedly impregnate his 14-year old daughter (names withheld), and subsequently murdered her to cover up his crime.

Residents in the community told newsmen that Williams had some few months ago put his 14-year old daughter in the family way after series of alleged illicit affair with her.

They added that recently, they started noticing some transformation in the girl that suggested that she was pregnant and this strange development fired their curiosity which eventually made them to discover that she was allegedly impregnated by her father.

Neigbhours who had been suspicious of the unholy rapport between father and daughter began to peddle rumours about the source of the girl’s pregnancy. Soon, the news was making the rounds among the villagers, that Williams had impregnated his own daughter.

According to Anike, a lady resident in the community, “Williams took his ‘expectant girl’ to his farm in Aba Iso area of the community, where it was learnt that he strangulated the girl to death.

“We are sure Williams killed his pregnant girl so as to cover up his crime because the girl’s pregnancy was already becoming very conspicuous and everyone knew that it was her father who slept with her.”

“It took us a while before we were able to apprehend Williams and handed him over to the traditional chiefs in the Community,” the lady said.

When contacted the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Alberto Adeyemi denied any knowledge of the incident, saying “the matter has not been officially reported to us.”

Two million Nigerians trapped in Boko Haram-controlled areas – UN

A cross-section of internally displaced persons in Gombe
About 2 million people are trapped in Nigeria’s North-Eastern areas still controlled by Boko Haram, and are facing serious humanitarian conditions, the United Nations has said.
This was disclosed Friday in Geneva, Switzerland, by UNICEF’s Chief of Nutrition in Nigeria, Arjan de Wagt, during a press briefing by the UN Information Service.
According to Mr. Wagt who spoke on telephone from Abuja, about 2 million people are still in areas which are inaccessible because of the security situation.
The 2 million people are in Borno State alone, he said.
Regarding Bama, he said there’s only access to the town of Bama and the IDP camp there, but not the other parts of the town.
He said the situation of the people trapped in Boko Haram-held areas was unknown, but that sometimes UNICEF managed to get a glimpse when IDPs from those areas came to more accessible areas.
UNICEF could then check their nutrition and health status, which was bad, he added.
Military success has helped to make more areas in the North East accessible for humanitarian assistance.

“Before April 2016, there was no access to most areas in Borno State because of the security situation,” he said.
But since April, access has progressively become possible to some of the other areas, he noted.
He however lamented that “In the newly-accessible areas, the levels of suffering and of malnutrition are very high.  In some of those areas, there’s a severe acute malnutrition rate of 12 per cent, which is a level rarely seen.  It is of a severity similar to that seen during the Horn of Africa crisis in 2011, in Somalia”.
Children face acute malnutrition
Mr. Wagt raised alarm over looming humanitarian disaster in the North East.
He said in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe States, there were 400,000 children “with severe acute malnutrition, and in Borno alone, 244,000 children are affected”.
He said it was the “worst level of malnutrition possible”, and the children were on “the brink of death”.
About one in five of those children were likely to die if they were not reached in time with specialized therapeutic foods, he warned.
He added that, if nothing was done, about 49,000 of the 244,000 children suffering from severe acute malnutrition in Borno State would die over the coming 12 months, translating to about 134 every day.
“Some 65,000 people are in famine-like conditions, the worst level of food insecurity, and facing starving to death for lack of food.  It is a very unique situation in the world,” he said.
Addressing the problem
To address the situation, Mr. Wagt said, resources in financial human and organizational terms were needed.
“All partners – Governments, the UN, NGOs and the private sector and individuals had to work together to provide the support that was needed.”
He added that all people in accessible areas needed to be reached, and food aid needed to be brought to them.

“For the youngest children as well as pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, specialized, therapeutic, high nutrient food is required.  If this is not addressed, more and more children would develop severe acute malnutrition,” he said.
He said UNICEF was supporting a nutrition programme and had recruited 1,500 community mobilizers going from house to house, from shelter to shelter, so that severely malnourished children could be linked to the health services so they could get treatment.

How to Apply For Government Npower Program

N-Power is a job creation and empowerment initiative of the Social Investment Programme of the Federal Government of Nigeria. N-Power is designed to help young Nigerians acquire and develop life-long skills to become solution providers in their communities and to become players in the domestic and global markets. Through N-Power, young Nigerians will be empowered with the necessary tools to go on and create, develop, build, fix and work on exceptional ideas, projects and enterprises that will change our communities, our economy and our nation. The N-Power programme is for all eligible Nigerians looking to work gainfully. However, the initial programmes have been designed for young Nigerians between the ages of 18 and 35.
THE N-POWER STRATEGY
For any country, skills and knowledge are the driving forces of economic growth and social development. Countries with higher and better levels of skills adjust more effectively to the challenges and opportunities of the world of work. Despite the great level of unemployment, Nigeria has the advantage of demographic edge given that a significant proportion of the population is young. Harnessing the demographic edge through appropriate skill development efforts would provide an opportunity to achieve inclusion and productivity within the country. Large-scale skill development is thus an imminent imperative.
Planned development of skills must be underpinned by a policy, which is both comprehensive as well as national in character. A national policy response is, therefore, needed to guide the skill development strategies and coordinated action by all stakeholders to avoid a piecemeal approach. It is also important that the policies of skill development be linked to policies in the economic, employment and social development arenas. This is why the Federal Government of Nigeria has designed the N-Power Programme.
N-Power addresses the challenge of youth unemployment by providing a structure for large scale and relevant work skills acquisition and development while linking its core and outcomes to fixing inadequate public services and stimulating the larger economy. The modular programmes under N-Power will ensure that each participant will learn and practice all that is necessary to find or create work. The N-Power Teacher Corp involves a massive deployment of 500,000 trained graduates who will assist to improve the inadequacies in our public services in education, health and civic education. Some of these graduates will also help in actualising Nigeria’s economic and strategic aspirations of achieving food security and self-sufficiency.
N-Power will also be a platform for diversifying the economy. N-Power is preparing young Nigerians for a knowledge economy where, equipped with world-class skills and certification, they become innovators and movers in the domestic and global markets. N-Power also focuses on providing our non-graduates with relevant technical and business skills that enhance their work outlook and livelihood.
To start, N-Power will convert the teeming unemployed to a pool of 500,000 empowered teachers, agriculture extension advisers, healthcare assistants, and civic and adult education instructors. There will also be a pool of 100,000 software developers, hardware service professionals, animators, graphic artists, building services professionals, artisans and others. N-Power will widen to attend to more citizens in the coming months.
GOALS
• To intervene and directly improve the livelihood of a critical mass of young unemployed Nigerians.
• To develop a qualitative system for the transfer of employability, entrepreneurial and technical skills.
• To create an ecosystem of solutions for ailing public services and government diversification policies.
N-POWER HAS 3 MAIN SEGMENTS
• N-Power Teacher Corps
• N-Power Knowledge
• N-Power Build
1.N-Power Teacher Corps
The N-Power Teacher Corps is a segment of the N-Power initiative which will engage and train 500,000 young unemployed graduates for the benefit of rural development in Nigeria. It is a paid volunteering programme of a 2-year duration. Through the N- Power Teacher Corps programme, the government's commitment to the improvement of quality of lives, reduction in income inequality and tackling of the deficiencies in public services will be actualised.
The graduates will work in their immediate rural communities, where they will assist in improving the inadequacies in the education, health, and agriculture sectors. Among the key selection criteria for the N-Power Teacher Corps will be a predisposition to work in proximate communities.
The 500,000 graduates under the N-Power Corps programme will get computing devices that will contain information necessary for their specific engagement, as well as information for their continuous training and development. Participants will provide teaching, instructional, and advisory solutions in 4 key areas.
The N-Power Teacher Corps programme is an invaluable opportunity for young Nigerians to make immense economic and social contributions to the nation while developing their skills. They will be encouraged to think critically, and be entrepreneurial and creative in applying their skills in their areas of endeavour. The 4 main focus areas are in primary and secondary education, agriculture, public health and community education (civic and adult education).
N-Power Teach
N-Power Teach will engage qualified graduates for the benefit of basic education delivery in Nigeria. They will be deployed as teacher assistants in primary and secondary schools around Nigeria. They will not replace the current teachers, but will work as support teachers across Nigeria, assisting with teaching, school management and other functions within the schools. They will also assist in taking basic education to children in marginalised communities.
Importantly, they will gain work experience, and acquire key competencies through academic and non-academic capacity building programmes, which will improve their competitiveness in the workplace.
N-Power Health
Through the N-Power Health programme, young graduates who form part of the 500,000 N-Power Teacher Corps members will be trained to work as healthcare assistants. They will teach preventive health to community members including pregnant women, children, families and individuals. They will also be trained to provide basic diagnostic services.
Programme participants would be trained to provide the following essential services:
1. Monitor health status to identify and solve community health problems.
2. Diagnose and investigate basic health problems and health hazards in individuals and the community.
3. Inform, educate, and empower people about health issues.
4. Mobilize community partnerships and action to identify and solve health problems.
5. Develop policies and plans that support individual and community health efforts.
6. Educate on laws, regulations and policies that protect health and ensure safety.
7. Link people to needed personal health services.
N-Power Agro
One of the ways that the Federal Government plans to diversify our economy is attaining self-sufficiency in producing the food we consume. An effective and well-coordinated agriculture extension system is vital to the attainment of sustainable national food self-sufficiency. To establish this, the Federal Government will engage 100,000 qualified young Nigerians through the N Power Agro programme.
After a first phase of training, N-Power Agro members will start to function as intermediaries between research and farmers. They will operate as facilitators and communicators, helping farmers in their decision-making and ensuring that appropriate knowledge is implemented to obtain the best results on farms. N-Power Agro will also rely on the use of technology as the country aspires to identify soil types, farm sizes, irrigation data, and ensure that our farmers are part of an existing and developing knowledge management system.
N-Power Community Education
There are certain values that are vital to building a nation. The Federal Government will focus on promoting patriotism, integrity, productivity, ethics, and efficiency. Civic education is essential to sustain our objectives to build a strong and competitive nation. To achieve this, the Federal Government will deploy a segment of the N-Power Teacher Corps as teachers of the civic skills and dispositions required to build the minds and hearts of our nation.
Some N-Power Teachers Corps members will also instruct and teach young and mature adults to improve or supplement their knowledge and skills in literacy, numeracy and other areas where they may be deficient.
2.N-Power Knowledge
The N-Power Knowledge programme is the Federal Government’s first step towards diversifying to a knowledge economy. This programme will work alongside the planned eight innovation hubs across the country to provide incubation and acceleration of the technology and creative industries. The programme is a training to jobs initiative, essentially ensuring that participants can get engaged in the marketplace in an outsourcing capacity, as freelancers, as employees and entrepreneurs. The knowledge programme is segmented into three sub programmes:
• N-Power Creative
• N-Power Tech (Software)
• N-Power Tech (Hardware)
N-Power Creative
The N-Power Creative programme will train and develop 5,000 young creative talents. The strategy is to put our creative industry on the global radar as exporters of world-class services and content. The duration for the training is 3 months, made up of 1 month in-class, and a 2-month hands-on group project, conducted across selected Nigerian cities. The participants will be trained and certified in one of the following courses:
• Animation
• Graphic Design
• Post-production
• Script Writing
At the end of the training, some participants will get local and international internship opportunities while others will be linked to job and market opportunities. In addition, all participants receive computers that assist them in skills acquisition and kick-starting their journey to work and entrepreneurship.
N-Power Tech (Software)
The N-Power Tech (Software) programme is set out to train, equip and support 10,000 young Nigerians to meet the local and international demand for software developers, web designers and other technology needs. The training will last for 3 months.
In addition to their technical courses, they will also receive entrepreneurship and business outsourcing trainings.
At the end of the training, some participants will get local and international internship opportunities while others will be linked to job and market opportunities. In addition, all participants receive computers that assist them in acquiring skills and kick-starting their journey to work and entrepreneurship.
N-Power Tech (Hardware)
The N-Power Tech (Hardware) programme is a demand driven skills training initiative that will train a minimum of 10, 000 young Nigerians to repair, maintain and assemble mobile phones, tablets, computers and other devices.
This will be a hands-on training programme where students will learn with the same tools, components and systems that they will encounter after the programme. Through this programme we will not only develop a huge crop of hardware entrepreneurs that can provide repair and maintenance services, but also train and develop a reservoir of human capital in hardware assembling and manufacturing for the domestic and export markets.
3.N-Power Build
The presence of a well-trained and highly skilled youth population in any economy has direct impact on entrepreneurship/wealth creation, which in turn leads to a decline in unemployment. If Nigeria is to fully maximise the use of her human capital coupled with our abundance of natural resources, it must pay attention to skills competency development and entrepreneurial training.
N-Power Build is an accelerated training and certification (Skills to Job/Enterprise) programme that will engage and train 75,000 young unemployed Nigerians in order to build a new crop of skilled and highly competent workforce of technicians, artisans and service professionals.
The focus industries include:
• Building Services
• Construction
• Built Environment Services
• Utilities and Engineering
• Hospitality and Catering
• Automative
• Aluminium and Gas

Introduced: March 21, 2016
Released: March 31, 2016
Discontinued: n/a, still being sold
Historically, Apple has released its new iPhone models once a year, often in the fall. That's changing with the release of the iPhone SE. But the release schedule isn't the only big change. After two generations of larger phones—the 6 and 6S series have screens that are 4.7 inches or bigger—the SE brings a 4-inch screen back to the line up of new iPhone models.

It can be helpful to think of the iPhone SE as being an iPhone 6 in the body of a 5S. This isn't completely accurate, as we'll see, but it puts you in the right mindset.

Why Apple Is Releasing the iPhone SE

The release of a new 4-inch iPhone in 2016 comes as a surprise after two years of larger phones and the gradual phasing out of older, 4-inch models.
Apple's introduction of the SE seems to stem from two major drivers:
  1. Emerging Markets—Apple sees huge opportunities to gain new customers in populous emerging markets like India and China, but its larger, more expensive phones have limited audiences there. By offering a powerful, smaller, more affordable phone, it hopes to capture more customers in those regions.
  2. Slow 6/6S Upgrades—In Apple's most recently quarterly earnings conference call, CEO Tim Cook revealed that 60% of iPhone owners haven't yet upgraded to the iPhone 6 series or 6S series. It is assumed that some of this reluctance is driven by people preferring a 4-inch screen. Apple hopes that the SE will prompt these users to upgrade.

The iPhone SE will be available in 110 countries by the end of May 2016, according to Apple.
Previous Models
As with previous releases of new models, the lowest-end iPhone still being sold is discontinued. In this case, that's the 5S. With the discontinuation of the 5S, the iPhone line up is now the SE, 6, and 6S.
In the fall, when the iPhone 7 series is released, rumors suggest that the 6 series will be discontinued, leaving the then-current line up as the 7 series, 6S series, and SE.

Updated February 22, 2016.
The Windows Command Prompt tool, and many of its commands, might seem boring or even relatively useless at first glance, but as anyone who has ever used the Command Prompt very often can tell you, there's much to love!
I guarantee that these several Command Prompt tricks and other Command Prompt hacks will get you excited about many of the mundane sounding Command Prompt commands like telnet, tree, or robocopy...
Set Up a Nice Website in 3 Minutes. No Ads, No Trouble, Personal Domain
okay, robocopy sounds pretty cool.
Some of these Command Prompt tricks and hacks are special features or fun uses for the Command Prompt itself, while others are just neat or relatively unknown things you can do with certain CMD commands.
Let's get started! Open Command Prompt and then browse through these 21 super-cool Command Prompt hacks.
Whatever you do, don't miss the crazy trick where you can watch the entire Star Wars Episode IV movie, for free, from right inside the Command Prompt. Yes, I'm serious.
Enjoy!

Use Ctrl-C to Abort a Command

Photo Credit: © David Lentz / E+ / Getty Images
Just about any command can be stopped in its tracks with the abort command: Ctrl-C.
If you haven't actually executed a command, you can just backspace and erase what you've typed, but if you've already executed it then you can do a Ctrl-C to stop it.
Ctrl-C isn't a magic wand and it can't undo things that aren't undoable, like a partially complete format command.
However, for things like the dir command that seem to go on forever or questions you're asked at the prompt that you don't know the answer to, the abort command is an excellent Command Prompt trick to know.

View a Command's Results One Page (or Line) at a Time

Ever run a command, like the dir command, that produces so much information on the screen that it's almost useless? You're not alone.
One way around this is to execute the command in a special way so whatever information is generated is shown to you one page, or one line, at a time.
To do this, just type the command, the dir command for example, and then follow it with the pipe redirection operator and then the more command.
For example, executing dir /s | more will generate the thousands of lines of results that you expect from the dir command, but the more command will pause each page of results with -- More -- at the bottom of the page, indicating that the command is not done running.
Just press the space bar to advance by page or press the Enter key to advance one line at a time.
Tip: One of my other CMD hacks (coming up in a few slides) provides a different solution to this problem using something called a redirection operator, so stay tuned...

Run Command Prompt as an Administrator Automatically

Many commands require that you execute them from an elevated Command Prompt in Windows - in other words, execute them from a Command Prompt that's run as an administrator.
You can always right-click on any Command Prompt shortcut and choose Run as administrator but creating a shortcut to do the same thing can be a huge time saver if you're a frequent Command Prompt power user.
To complete this Command Prompt trick, just create a Command Prompt shortcut on the desktop, enter the shortcut's properties and then select the Run as administrator box located in the Advanced button on the Shortcut tab.

Become a Command Prompt Power User with Function Keys

The fact that the function keys actually do something in the Command Prompt is maybe one of the best kept secrets about the tool:
F1: Pastes the last executed command (character by character)
F2: Pastes the last executed command (up to the entered character)
F3: Pastes the last executed command
F4: Deletes current prompt text up to the entered character
F5: Pastes recently executed commands (does not cycle)
F6: Pastes ^Z to the prompt
F7: Displays a selectable list of previously executed commands
F8: Pastes recently executed commands (cycles)
F9: Asks for the number of the command from the F7 list to paste
Another Command Prompt trick coming up soon is full of arrow key shortcuts, a few of which are similar to these function key tricks.

Hack the Prompt Text

Did you know that the prompt itself in the Command Prompt is completely customizable thanks to the prompt command? It is, and when I say customizable, I mean really customizable.
Instead of C:\>, you can set the prompt to any text you want, have it include the time, the current drive, the Windows version number, you name it.
One useful example is prompt $m$p$g which will show the full path of a mapped drive in the prompt, alongside the drive letter.
You can always execute prompt alone, without options, to return it to its sometimes boring default.

Get Help for Any Command

Believe it or not, the help command does not provide help for every Command Prompt command. (How silly is that?)
However, any command can be suffixed with the /? option, usually called the help switch, to display detailed information about the command's syntax and often times even some examples.
I doubt that the help switch is the coolest Command Prompt trick you've ever heard of, but it's hard to disagree that it's one of the more useful.
Unfortunately, neither the help command nor the help switch offer much in the way of explaining how to interpret the syntax. See How To Read Command Syntax if you need help with that.

Save a Command's Output to a File

An incredibly useful Command Prompt trick is the use of redirection operators, specifically the > and >> operators.
These little characters let you redirect the output of a command to a file, giving you a saved version of whatever data the command produced in the Command Prompt window.
For example, let's say you're about to post a computer problem to an online forum and you want to provide really accurate information about your computer.
An easy way to do that would be to use the systeminfo command with a redirection operator.
For example, you might execute systeminfo > c:\mycomputerinfo.txt to save the information provided by the systeminfo command to that file. You could then attach the file to your forum post.
See How To Redirect Command Output to a File for more examples and a better explanation of how to use redirection operators.

View a Drive's Entire Directory Structure

I think one of the neatest little commands is the tree command. With tree, you can create a kind of map of the directories on any of your computer's drives.
Execute tree from any directory to see the folder structure under that directory.
With so much information created with this command, it's probably a good idea to export the results of tree to a file so you can actually look through it.
For example, tree /a > c:\treeresults.txt, just as explained in the last Command Prompt trick about redirection operators.

Customize the Command Prompt Title Bar Text

Tired of that Command Prompt title bar text? No problem, just use the title command to hack it say whatever you like.
For example, let's say your name is Maria Smith, and you want to express your ownership of the Command Prompt: execute title Property of Maria Smith and the Command Prompt's title bar will change immediately.
The change won't stick, so the next time you open Command Prompt the title bar will be back to normal.
The title command is usually used to help give a custom appearance in script files and batch files... not that I'm saying titling it with your name isn't a good idea!

Copy Text From the Command Prompt

As you may or may not know, copying from the Command Prompt is not as easy as copying from other programs, which is part of the reason why saving a command's output to a file, which you learned about a few tricks back, is so handy.
But what if you do just want to copy a short section of text to the clipboard? It's not too hard but it's not very intuitive either:
  1. Right-click anywhere in the Command Prompt window and choose Mark.
  1. Now, highlight with your left mouse button whatever you'd like to copy.
  2. Once your selection is made, press Enter.
Now you can paste that information into whatever program you'd like, just like you paste other text.

Open the Command Prompt From Any Location

If you've ever worked in the Command Prompt for very long, you know that it can be really frustrating executing the cd/chdir command over and over (and over) again to get to the right directory you want to work from.
Luckily, there's a super easy Command Prompt trick that will let you open a Command Prompt window from whatever folder you're viewing in Windows.
All you have to do is navigate, in Windows, to the folder you'd like to start working from once in Command Prompt.
Once there, hold down your Shift key while you right-click anywhere in the folder.
Once the menu pops up, you'll notice an entry that's not usually there: Open command window here.
Click that and you'll start a new instance of the Command Prompt, ready and waiting at the right location!
If you're a Command Prompt power user, you'll immediately recognize the value in this little trick.

Drag and Drop For Easy Path Name Entry

Most Command Prompt commands require you, or have options, to specify full paths to files or folders but typing out a long path can be frustrating, especially when you miss a character and have to start over.
For example, in Windows 10, the path to the Accessories group in my Start Menu is C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories. Who wants to type that all in manually? I don't.
Luckily there's a Command Prompt trick that makes this much easier: drag and drop.
Just navigate to the folder you want the path for in Windows Explorer. Once there, drag the folder or file to the Command Prompt window and let go. Like magic, the full path is inserted, saving you a considerable amount of typing depending on the length and complexity of the path name.
Note: Unfortunately, the drag and drop feature does not work in an elevated Command Prompt. At least you learned a few tricks back how to open one of those a bit quicker!

Shut Down or Restart Another Computer

System administrators in a business environment do this all the time for lots of reasons, but you can also shut down or restart another computer on your network, all from your computer's Command Prompt.
The easiest way to shut down a computer remotely is to execute shutdown /i from the Command Prompt which will open the Remote Shutdown Dialog, shown here.
Just enter the name of the remote computer (which you can get by running the hostname command on the other PC), choose what you want to do (restart or shutdown), select some other options and then click OK.
So whether you're brushing up on your command skills or just scaring a family member, this Command Prompt trick is a fun one.
You can also shut down or restart another computer strictly from the Command Prompt with the shutdown command, without using the Remote Shutdown Dialog.

Use Robocopy as a Backup Solution

Thanks to the robocopy command, you don't need to use Window's backup software or install a third party program to manage your backups.
Just execute robocopy c:\users\tim\documents f:\backup\documents /copyall /e /r:0 /dcopy:t /mir, obviously replacing the source and destination folders with whatever you'd like to backup and where. The robocopy command with these options functions identically to an incremental backup software tool, keeping both locations in sync.
You don't have the robocopy command if you're using Windows XP or earlier. However, you do have the xcopy command, which can be used to do something very similar: xcopy c:\users\tim\documents f:\backup\documents /c /d /e /h /i /k /q /r /s /x /y.
No matter which command you choose to use, just create a script file containing the command and schedule it to run in Task Scheduler and you'll have your own custom made backup solution.
I use a cloud backup service at my home today, and recommend that you do too, but there were years where I chose to use the robocopy command as my only local backup solution because I liked the level of control it gave me. Hopefully you take that as a vote of confidence in this incredibly useful Command Prompt trick.

View Your Computer's Important Network Information

Maybe just for your own information, but certainly when you're troubleshooting a network or Internet problem, you'll probably at some point need to know details about your computer's network connection.
Everything you'd want to know about your network connection is available somewhere in the Control Panel in Windows, but it's much easier to find, and much better organized, in the results from the ipconfig command.
Open Command Prompt and execute ipconfig /all.
What displays on screen next is everything important about your network connection: your IP address, hostname, DHCP server, DNS information, and much, much more.
Combine this hack with the one about redirection operators that you learned about several slides back and you've got a very easy way to get information about your connection to someone helping you with a problem.

Map a Local Folder Just Like a Network Drive

The net use command is used to assign shared drives on a network to your own computer as a drive letter, but did you know there's another command that can be used to do the same thing to any folder on any of your local hard drives?
There is and it's called the subst command. Just execute the subst command, followed by the path of the folder you wish to appear as a drive.
For example, let's say you want your C:\Windows\Fonts folder to appear as the Q: drive.
Just execute subst q: c:\windows\fonts and you're set!
This Command Prompt trick makes accessing a particular location from the Command Prompt much easier.

Access Previously Used Command with the Arrow Keys

Another great Command Prompt trick has to be the use of the keyboard arrow keys to cycle through previously executed commands.
The up and down arrow keys cycle through the commands you've entered and the right arrow automatically enters, character by character, the last command you executed.
This might not sound that interesting, but there are several situations where the arrow keys become huge time savers.
Consider this example: You've typed out 75 characters of a command and then try to execute it, only to find that you forgot to add an option at the very end. No problem, just hit the up arrow and the entire command is automatically entered in the Command Prompt window, ready for you to edit to make it work.
Granted, I work in the Command Prompt a lot, but I'd guess this little trick has saved me many hours of repeat typing over the years.

Automatically Complete Commands with Tab Completion

Tab completion is another Command Prompt trick that can save you lots of time, especially if your command has a file or folder name in it that you're not completely sure of.
To use tab completion in the Command Prompt, just enter the command and then the portion of the path that you do know, if at all. Then press the tab key over and over to cycle through all of the available possibilities.
For example, let's say you want to change directories to some folder in the Windows directory but you're not sure what it's named.
Type cd c:\windows\ and then press tab until you see the folder you're looking for.
The results cycle or you can use SHIFT+TAB to step through the results in reverse.
You know how your smartphone's texting app automatically guesses what it is you want to type next? Tab completion in Command Prompt is sort of like that... only better.

Find a Website's IP Address

Like to know the IP address of a website? You can use the nslookup command or the ping command but the former is probably faster.
First let's use the nslookup command to find the IP address of about.com:
Just execute nslookup about.com and view the result. Make sure you don't confuse any private IP addresses that also show up in the nslookup results alongside the public IP address of about.com, which is what IP address we're after.
Now let's try using the ping command to find it:
Execute ping about.com and then look at the IP address between the brackets in the first line shown. Don't worry if the ping command "times out" during execution; all we needed here was the IP address.
Using either Command Prompt trick, the IP address of about.com is shown as 207.241.148.80. You can use the same procedure with any website or any hostname on your local network.

Copy & Paste Easier with QuickEdit Mode

A number of these Command Prompt tricks have dealt with making copying and pasting easier. So, how about an even easier way to copy from the Command Prompt (and a secret way to easily paste)?
Bring it on, right?
Just right-click on the Command Prompt title bar and select Properties. On the Options tab, in the Edit Options section, check the QuickEdit Mode box and then click OK.
Enabling QuickEdit Mode is like having Mark enabled all the time so selecting text to copy is really easy.
As a bonus, this also enables an easy way to paste into the Command Prompt: just right click once and whatever you have in the clipboard is pasted in the Command Prompt window. Normally, pasting involves right-clicking and selecting Paste so this is still a bit different than you're used to.
Oh yeah, remember when I mentioned Star Wars? Check out the next slide!

Watch Star Wars Episode IV

Yes, you read that correctly, you can watch an ASCII version of the full Star Wars Episode IV movie right in the Command Prompt window!
Just open Command Prompt and execute telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl. The movie will start immediately. Check out the tip below if this doesn't work.
True, this isn't a terribly productive use of the Command Prompt, nor is it really a trick of the Command Prompt or any command, but it sure is fun!
I can't imagine the work that went in to this!
