Admission Story of a Uniben Student [very sad]

The Nigerian educational system is structured in such a way as to impose massive stress for the most part of the year. Here’s the sad story of a uniben student.
Typing with tears rolling down my eyes…concerning the way educational sector is ongoing in Nigeria. I just cant understand why admission process this year is very difficult.
Image result for unibenI passed my UTME and POST U
TME but can’t just understand why uniben has decided to deny me admission. I can’t just bear the pains seeing those that scored same score with me being admitted. What will I call this?
I just can’t understand. There are so many students out there with same story with me, they are very hurt, crying everyday.
It has gotten to the level whereby if you don’t do shady runs, you can’t be admitted into any institution, which ought not to be so.
Students, whose parents are not financially balanced, what do you expect them to do? How can institutions produce first class graduates now when getting admission is runz, no privilege for the intelligent ones to be in school.
Because now that admission process is like this, it is now difficult for students to be serious in their academics when they know without studying hard they will definitely block their way through which is not good.
Please all institutions, change from this Act! Do you know how many students get traumatized because of this Act each year?
Please stop this Act! When students pass your post UTME, give them admission.
Uniben please reconsider those of us that score from 50 upwards. it’s not easy passing both UTME and Post UTME. Please you guys should upload another list.
Speaking from the affected students minds…. Something has to be done.
We will highly appreciate it if you help us publish it, because we are not rich enough to sue them….
Yours truly,
Affected student

Automatic Employment for First Class Students

his is not the first time that Nigerian first class students are getting employed automatically, it’s been a regular trend. But this is spectacular as it involves 12 graduates.
12 First Class Graduates Get Automatic Employment
Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has announced automatic employment to 12 first class graduates of the Tai Solarin University of Education, TASUED.
Governor Amosun announced this, on Saturday, while speaking at the 6th and 7th Convocation and 10th anniversary ceremony of the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
He added that his administration was ready and committed to doing all that is necessary to make certificates of higher institutions in Ogun State, the most sought-after in Nigeria.
The governor noted that the greatest legacy anyone can bequeath to the coming generation is a good education adding that “it is easier to govern an enlightened and educated populace.”
Governor Amosun also promised to continue with his administration’s commitment to providing top notch facilities in tertiary institutions in Ogun State.
The governor said his administration will continue to build more hostels of residence and lecture rooms in order to ensure better learning conditions and forestall negative indoctrination of the students.
The Ogun State governor also enjoined the graduands to be aware of the responsibility they now have to the society as a whole.
“I charge you all to remember that you are now transitioning into shapers of other destinies as you go into the world to contribute your quota. It is your responsibility as teachers to ensure that the younger people put in your trust are well developed both in character and learning.
“Moreover, I want to charge you to be responsible, industrious, dependable and humble. You should ensure that you are good ambassadors of this great citadel of learning in all you do.
“You should also comport yourselves with dignity in whatever situation life may place you and in a manner befitting of products of the foremost University of education in Nigeria,” Governor Amosun said.
Speaking earlier, the Vice-chancellor of TASUED, Mrs. Oluyemisi Obilade noted that the institution was the first University of Education in Nigeria, the 2nd in Africa and the 8th in the world adding that its vision was “to be a one-stop shop for all educational needs and preferred University of education globally.”
Obilade also noted that 5,970 graduands were being conferred with First degrees, out of which, twelve (12) graduated with First class Honours while adding that nothing has added more glamour to the school’s 10th anniversary than the quality of individuals who were honoured with honorary doctorate degrees at the event.
The event witnessed the conferment of honorary doctorate degrees to Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, former President of Nigeria; late Chief Mrs. HID Awolowo and Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest.

How To Reset The Unlock Counter Of Permanent Blocked Huawei Modem

A guy I personally know got a USB modem from the UK and the modem was locked to 3, a UK mobile network. On getting to Nigeria here, he found out the modem wouldn’t work with SIM card. The modem prompted for an unlock code and this dude kept guessing till he entered it incorrectly 10 times. He rendered the modem useless and even DC unlocker couldn’t unlock it. I tried all I could but it didn’t work. I decided to try flashing the modem and re-installed the firmware but still, the unlock counter still read 10. Before the modem finally became useable again, Below is the procedure i followed:

How to Reset the Unlock Counter

Like I said earlier, upgrading the firmware did not reset the unlock counter which read 10 out of 10. I had to reset the counter with a software. If you haven’t entered your unlock code 10 times like the guy in question did, you can still do it if you want to unlock your modem, anyway.
  • Download Huawei Modem Unlocker Here
  • Extract the content and run the .exe file inside
  • Click on Refresh. Your modem should be automatically detected so far you checked AUTO CONNECTION under connection mode
  • Be sure Auto-Calc Code and Auto-Unlock Modem are both marked
  • Click READ MDM DATA
  • Now click UNLOCK. This should both unlock your modem and reset the counter at the same time
  • Congratulation! Now you’ve successfully reset “permanently locked” of your Huawei modem to 10 times again.
  • Lastly, click on Calculate to generate the flash code. You’re gonna be needing it later.
Hope you have rested your unlock code counter so please do Share/Like this article to your friend and give us support by commenting.

Drama as Jonathan Obasanjo, meet

Meeting finally holds at Obasanjo’s Hilltop residence By Clifford Ndujihe, Ola Ajayi, Dapo Akinrefon & Daud Olatunji
ABEOKUTA – HIDE and seek! That aptly captures the processes that led to a closed-door meeting between President Goodluck Jonathan and former President Olusegun Obasanjo, yesterday, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
A top supporter of Jonathan told Vanguard at about 8.30 p.m, yesterday, that “the meeting is holding now” and declined further comments.
An unconfirmed report last night stated that the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye and the Founder, Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, were part of the meeting, which began at 7 p.m, last night.
The presence of the religious leaders as witnesses, sources said, was part of the conditions Obasanjo gave to hold any talk with President Jonathan.
The media was awash with expectation and anxiety over what the outcome of the two leaders’ meeting would be. Obasanjo, recently came down hard on Jonathan accusing his administration of squandering $55 billion crude oil savings and reserves. Jonathan had in turn promised to expose what former leaders and heads of state failed to do while in office that stunted the country’s socio-economic growth. He later added that some leaders were behaving like motor park touts, a comment that was perceived to be aimed at Obasanjo.

From left: President Goodluck Jonathan; Otunba Gbenga Daniel, former governor of Ogun State and Vice President Namadi Sambo at the PDP presidential campaign rally in Abeokuta, yesterday.
However, Obasanjo attended President Jonathan’s niece’s wedding in Abuja, weekend, and was well received as he had warm handshakes with President Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan.
Thus, it was not surprising that the speculated Abeokuta meeting raised hairs. At press time, yesterday, there were different reasons the meeting could not hold during the day. One account said the meeting could not be held in the afternoon because President Jonathan snubbed Obasanjo. Another account said the former president avoided the president by leaving his house where the meeting would have been held on hearing that Jonathan had arrived in Abeokuta.
The hide and seek game
Indeed, the former President left his palatial Hilltop building in Abeokuta, immediately Jonathan arrived the state capital.
Obasanjo who was driven out in his black SUV and one security Hilux van, shunned his main entrance and made use of his private gate.
Vanguard was at Obasanjo’s house to cover the expected meeting between the two leaders and observed that some security personnel who had been detailed at the former President’s house suddenly disappeared.
A source close to Obasanjo’s Hilltop mansion in Abeokuta had earlier confided in Vanguard that President Jonathan was not in Obasanjo’s itinerary for the day.
He also hinted that Obasanjo jetted out around 2: 59 p.m few minutes after the helicopter that flew the President to the state, touched down.
Operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) who had earlier besieged Obasanjo’s Hilltop mansion as early as 6a.m in anticipation of President Jonathan’s arrival also left the place at exactly 3.10p.m when it became obvious that Jonathan was not coming.
Jonathan, however, arrived at the M.K.O Stadium in Abeokuta at exactly 3.50p.m and headed straight to the state box from where he later moved out to acknowledge cheers from the crowd who had thronged the stadium venue of the campaign as early as 7. 30a.m.
Asked why President Jonathan ‘dodged’ Obasanjo and refused to visit him despite being in Abeokua, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr Doyin Okupe, said: “Dodge Obasanjo? How? The president just left the stadium now and he is in the presidential lodge in Abeokuta, resting.”
The meeting, last night, however ended at 9.53 pm without official statement from both parties.
Jonathan woos Ogun voters
At the Abeokuta rally, President Jonathan promised to create additional eight million jobs for Nigerian youths in the next four years, if re-elected.
While referring to Gen. Mohammadu’s Buhari’s assertion that if elected, he would ensure that all guilty corrupt persons are jailed, Jonathan said: “It is my prayer that a time will come in Nigeria that there will be no single prison in the country.”
He then told his audience: “You have a choice to vote for those who will build more prisons for you or my administration which will build more schools for you.”
Schools and Wealth creation
He said his administration was already working with eminent Nigerians in private sector to make the mission a reality, saying that the party was out to fight poverty through wealth and job creation.
The president said that the Federal Government had set up a technical committee to that effect which was headed by Vice-President Namadi Sambo to work the modalities for the creation of at least two million jobs every year. He explained that the Federal Government was also working with Tony Elumelu, Chairman UBA and other investors from the private sector in order to achieve the goal.
He said: “We are out to create jobs, our target is to create not less than two million jobs every year. We are working with the private sector. Tony Elumelu is part of them and when we are talking about Elumelu, you know we are talking about a serious investor.”
While explaining that PDP had changed the face of Agriculture in the country, President Jonathan declared that the PDP-led Federal Government would integrate Commercial Agriculture into the Secondary schools’ curriculum to create wealth, more jobs and to reduce the country’s balance of payment deficit on imported foods.
We’ll win war against terrorism, says Jonathan at Mapo Hall
Meanwhile, President Jonathan has said his commitment and method of tackling corruption was not dependent on the number of people his administration tries or jails.
Though, he said his government has tried many Nigerians to show that it did not support corruption, he said the number of people tried on corruption-related offences would never stem the tide of the hydra-headed problem.
He said this at the ancient Mapo Hall, Ibadan, venue of his campaign rally, yesterday.
According to him: “If I try 10 million Nigerians and jail 5 million, that does not stop corruption problem. Let me re-assure Nigerians that we will win war against terror. My commitment and method of solving corruption is not in terms of the number of people I try or jail.”
President Jonathan, who used the forum to reel out the achievements of his administration, noted that his government had empowered over one million people through its various intervention programmes.
Other achievements, he said, include ongoing reconstruction of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, power projects, Ibadan Airport renovation, Ibadan-Lagos-Kano railway line rehabilitation, among other empowerment projects cited in Oyo State.
This came just as the president urged Nigerian women to vote him in for another four years to liberate themselves or risk being restricted to the kitchen by the opposition.
Though, some aggrieved chieftains of the party who felt cheated in the way the party’s governorship candidate was finally selected were conspicuously absent at the rally, their absence did not take the shine-off the event.
Speaking one after the other, many chieftains of the party including governorship and senatorial candidates gave reasons the South-West should back Jonathan’s re-election ambition.
The Minister of State, FCT, Oloye Jumoke Akinjide buttressed the achievements of the president saying he gave $200 million to the South West to check flooding which claimed lives some years ago in the state.
The Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko said the South-West belonged to the PDP, adding that Nigerians should not vote for a president that cannot boot a computer because “the 21st century requires a president that is young, computer compliant and current .”
Mulikat Akande, the leader of the House of Representatives said the rally was to receive the president and to flag-off the party’s campaign in the state.
In attendance were the Vice President, Namadi Sambo; PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Muazu; Minister of State, FCT, Oloye Jumoke Akinjide; Senator Hosea Agboola; High Chief Lekan Balogun, PDP chieftain; Olusegun Mimiko; Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode, Director of Media and Publicity, Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation and PDP senatorial candidates in Oyo South, North and Central among others.

UNIZIK students produce mini bus

By Obialunamma Nwadiogbu
EKWULOBIA—VICE Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka , Prof. Joseph Ahaneku is a happy man now following the feat achieved by his students. This was because the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the university had again proved that it was not just good in theory but also in the practical aspect of their studies.  Seven graduating students from the department constructed a “made in Nigeria” mini bus to the satisfaction of the university community.
Unizik car: The mini bus.
Unizik car: The mini bus.
The journey into car manufacturing in the university started last year, when a group of five students from the same department produced a Formula 1 car called AutoZIK. The seven students include Ezeigwe Chitoo, Obinani Victor, Ezeanolue Ifeanyi, Okoro Chinaza, Ominigbo Fidelis, Nwobodo Nnamdi  and Ogbu Thaddeus.
They were supervised by the Head of the department, Dr. C.H. Achebe. South East Voice learned that the group, which is known as ‘AUTOZIK II,’ spent over five months constructing the mini bus for shuttles within and around the university with locally sourced materials.
Like the popular saying, “What a man can do, a woman can do even better,” the conspicuous presence of a female, ‘Okoro Chinaza’ in the team spoke volumes. On how she was able to surmount the challenges as the only female in the midst of her male counterparts with respect to the stress associated with such herculean tasks, she said: “I had always been in their midst right from my first year in school, so it was not really a big deal.”
She disclosed that she had always followed her passion regardless of what people around said or thought.  Narrating the success story, one of the engineers, Ezeigwe Chitoo, said that the project was a dream come true.  “The Autozik group made the design using CAD software, and all necessary simulation softwares for the analysis, putting the environment into critical consideration. The bus has good seating positions, better fuel conservation, good passenger view and very good aesthetics. It was built to suit the topography of our environment and the weather condition we have in this part of the world,” he said.

According to him, the bus was constructed from start to finish, inside the mechanical workshop of the university. He disclosed that the project was aimed at advancing the ergonomic standard of existing shuttle buses. The bus can be compared to other foreign produced ones and it is outstanding.  Also speaking, a member of the team,  Ifeanyi  said: “The AUTOZIK team had gone through a whole lot before arriving at this platform. When we started, many thought we will not come this far, but today they have come to rejoice with us.
“We thank God, who has brought us this far, we also thank our supervisor and the Head of Department Dr. C.H. Achebe, for his fatherly advice and support throughout the duration of the project,” he happily said. The bus was test-driven within and outside the university to prove that it was movable, durable and above all, fully made in Nigeria. Some of the students of the department, in an interview, commended the efforts of Dr. Achebe and his team of lecturers, who, according to them, were doing great job, by igniting the spirit and the zeal of invention and innovation in Nigeria.
They also commended the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Ihueze Toochukwu, who, they said, had brought huge improvement to the Faculty of Engineering and  re-branding the system. The team further praised the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ahaneku, who according to them, had changed the face of the institution, wiped out examination malpractice and improved the standard of learning. According to Chitoo, Ahaneku’s support for the Faculty of Engineering had increased the zeal for invention and ingenuity in the faculty.

Why I’m excited about my new jobs – Okonjo-Iweala

By Ikenna Asomba
Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s Minister of Finance & Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on Monday, expressed joy over her new job to join the board of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, founded by Bill and Melinda Gates.
Okonjo-Iweala
Okonjo-Iweala
The former finance minister, had also announced that she will also be joining US investment bank, Lazard’s sovereign advice division.
Okonjo-Iweala who tweeted via her Twitter handle, @NOIweala said: “I’m excited to join GAVI to immunize 300 million more children in the next five years and save 5 million to 6 million more lives.”
The new portfolios, however, follow her second stint as Nigeria’s finance minister, which ended in May after the Goodluck Jonathan-led government was voted out of office.
Okonjo-Iweala has spent the past three decades working on fiscal management and governance systems in Africa through 25 years at the World Bank, most recently as a managing director, and twice as finance minister in what is now the continent’s biggest economy.
She has although, recently come under sharp criticisms particularly by Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, over issues bordering on alleged corruption in the last administration.
Okonjo-Iweala has argued that her work on transparency and anti-corruption as finance minister under both Mr Jonathan and Olusegun Obasanjo has been unfairly “brushed aside.”

My 5 Lovers Episode 5

My Dad usually comes home late on
Saturdays (club things). But my mum…
where will I tell them that I went to?
Went to my sister and confided in her
(dint tell her where I was going). Told
her that I will be coming back anytime from 8pm and if mummy asked
of me..
that she should tell her that I went to
collect GCE past question from someone
that I just left now. She said no
problem.
I went to play with my mum in the living room then sneaked into my
room
around 5:30pm. I made a call to Tunde
that I will be coming but I won’t stay
that long. Exactly 6pm, I took a bike to the hotel at
Johnson street. I called Tunde that I’m
at the gate. After waiting for like
5mins, he came and we entered inside.
He was with his friends in the VIP
lounge (2girls… 3guys). He introduced the ladies… this is Ronke and
this is
Linda. They greeted me warmly by
hugging me. With my assessment, those
ladies will be over 40years old. Is this
the kind of bigger girls that Tunde
wants to link me to. I was still thinking when tunde ordered for 2 bottles
of
small stout and a plate of pepper soup
(Stout ke) for me. I rushed the drinks
with the hope that I would leave early
but tunde ordered for more drinks
which I rejected. I don’t drink like that besides I don’t want you to feel
bad that
was why I forced myself to drink the
ones you gave me.
He smiled and said “you be correct guy”.
It is getting late: 7:30pm now. I told him
that I had to leave because of my Dad. Tunde: no oooo. I have a gift for you
Me: what gift is that?
Tunde: guys let’s go inside… We all moved inside the hotel. Tunde
gave me room key 204 and said your
package is inside there. I know that the
package is a girl.I was feeling tipsy but I
was still praying that it won’t be old
mama like Ronke and Linda ooo. I managed to get to the door and I got
the shock of my life when I opened it.
What I saw really surprised me.

The shock of my life. I met someone quite alright but it was
Tunde’s friend. He excused himself to go
to the restroom when we were drinking
outside (I remembered his face). I don’t
want to be rude, so I closed the door
(dint lock it). I kept singing at the back of my mind “I’m not gay”. The
guy
introduced himself as ikechukwu but all
his friends call him IK for short. He
started toasting me. I like you I love
you… I will really take care of you.. bla
bla bla! then all of a sudden he started running his hands all over my
body. I
was still in shock of the whole scenario.
Just looking like mumu until his hand
touched my “OGA”. That was when I
flared up.
Me: I’m not gay my guy.. just stop it. IK: nobody was… I will treat you
good.
Me: (this guy fine oo) as you fine reach
na guys you dey find when girls plenty
for outside.
IK: nobody fit satisfy me like the way
men do. Me: (trying to touch me again) I shouted
at him, if you dare touch me again; I
swear I go kill you for here. You dey
mad ni (very angry and pointing to the
sky) I stood up and headed for the door that
was when I remembered that I dint
removed the key from outside and we
were locked inside. I asked him how did
he gets inside? He dint even answer me.
I dialled Tunde’s number but it was switched off. The time is now
20mins
after 8pm. I sat down beside him and
thinking how I’m going to get out of
here. My phone rang and my heart
saddened when I saw the call was from
my dad. I started begging him that he should
allow me go…. Na dat day I know say
Konji na bastard….
Ik con dey do as if na me offend am… I
Begged and Begged…. my mum has
started calling too… Wahala dey oooo!
My Dad and Mum kept calling me at
intervals. I just have to rush home but Ik
is not helping matters.
It’s now 9pm and I’m still in the captive
of a gay guy. Then I saw Bidemi’s call
and then Kikelomo’s call, that was when I knew that I’m in for a big
trouble. I
wanted to pick my dad’s call and tell
him about my location but I know the
kind of person he is. I sat down relaxed
and I took another bottle of small stout
on the table. Finished it then I opened another one. As I was gulping
down my
fourth bottle that was when he went to
open the door. The time is now 9:34pm.
My legs were shaking but I managed to
get a bike and I told him to take me to
Customs street. Okada man: your money na #100
Me: for just next street… okay I will give
you #200 but if anybody asked you
where are you bringing me from tell
them say na GRA junction.
Okada man: thank you oga… no wahala. I be business man na We
drove off and go gbangan I reached
my papa house.
I alighted the bike. What I saw make
me to understand that my family loves
me.
Standing outside were my parents, Badoo, Funmilayo, mummyk
Kikelomo
and Bidemi.
I fumbled off the bike that my mum had
to rush over to check on me.
Immediately she smelled Alcohol on
me,she just left me lying on the ground.
I managed to stand up. I went over to
my Dad. Me: good evening sir
Dad: where are you coming from?
Me: I went to a friends party.
Dad: is that why you should come home
drunk and got everyone worried
Me: I dint drink oooo… Dad: I can see that…. then stand upright
Me: ((I tried to stand up right but my
weight is too heavy for my legs to
carry)… I’m standing upright sir I knew that my legs were seriously
shaking. It’s the influence of the alcohol
I took. My Dad now faced the Adeboye’s and
thanked them for their support. He then
called segun. Go and drop them and
come home very fast ooo. It’s late ooo. I looked at Bidemi&Kikelomo
and I
know what was going through their
minds. I just greeted Mummyk as I
fumbled into the house.
